چکیده
I N PREVIOUS papers we have described the presence of vasoconstrictor and vasopressor activity in dialyzed renal and peripheral venous plasma of patients with arterial hypertension.1' 2 Plasmua from such patients caused a contraction of the rabbit aorta strip) and elevated the blood pressure of nephrectomized cats. Evidence has also been presented. that an enzyme with the characteristics of "renin" is responsible for the vaasoaetivity of the plasma and that it reacts with renin-substrate to form a product that has the properties of angiotensin.1-4 In this paper a method for the quantitative determination of renin in human plasma is described. In addition, further data are presented showing that the renin-angiotensin system is responsible for activity being assayed. The method is based on measuring the amount of the reaction product, anlgiotensin II, produced by the incubation of dialyzed plasma under standardized conditions. Reninsubstrate (angiotensinogen) is also measured because the amount of angiotensin formed by renin depends upon the amount of substrate present in*the plasma. Converting enzyme is preseint in excess in the plasma; so it is not a limiting factor.5 6 All the components for the formation of angiotensin IT are present in plasma: renin, renin-substrate, and converting enzyme.3 These are all proteins, and therefore do not pass through the dialyzing membranes. Coinsequently, by dialysis it is possible to remove

Renal scarring secondary to vesicourethral reflux is associated with an increased incidence of hypertension, which has been reported in up to 38% of children with reflux nephropathy. In this study the results of captopril test on 20 patients with reflux nephropathy(reflux+Scarring) were assessed within 8 months. For this purpose we studied the plasma renin activity and blood pressure r...

Three siblings (1 boy, 2 girls) with hypertension and hypokalemia are presented, two with low plasma aldosterone and suppressed renin activity and the eldest with a high renin and aldosterone level due to secondary changes in her kidneys. Urinary tetrahydrocortisol (THF) was increased relative to tetrahydrocortisone (THE). Cortisol ring A reduction constant was also lower than normal. Thes...

In this study, the changes of renin system activity and the effects of aspirin therapy on the plasma renin activity ( PRA) in myocardial infarction were investigated. Fifty nine patients with myocardial infarction were selected. By suppressed in the former group which was statistically significant ( p<0.01).

Background: The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between hypertension and aldosterone-renin ratio (ARR) with the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on non-diabetic patients who were candidate for coronary angiography in Shafa hospital in Kerman in 2017. The levels of active renin and ald...
متن کاملAmygdala centralis cardiovascular response to angiotensin I microinjection in Goldblatt hypertensive rats
Previous studies have shown that induction of 2kidney -1clip Goldblatt hypertension (2K-1C) induction in rats eliminates hypertensive response after inactivating of the central nucleus of the amygdale (ACe). The present study investigated the possibility of alteration in local renin angiotensin system (RAS) activity in ACe after hypertension induction. Clamps were placed on the left renal arter...
